Worship Services

At First United Methodist Church, Tallassee, we believe that God finds all true worship and praise pleasing, no matter the style of music, the decor of the setting, or the degree of formality!  We are pleased to offer Sunday morning worship services in two distinct styles, allowing for our members to worship in the way they feel brings them closest to God.

Contemporary “Encounter” Service
8:50 am – Sunday mornings
Fellowship Hall

This service, featuring a live praise band under the direction of worship leader, Jordan Cunningham, is held in our downstairs Fellowship Hall.  The informal nature of the venue and casual atmosphere of the service make it particularly appealing to those who are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with very traditional church services.  Seating is on folding chairs, lighting is dimmed, words are projected on screens, and the live music provided by our “Encounter band” is a selection of contemporary praise music.
Traditional Service
11:00 am – Sunday mornings
Sanctuary

Our traditional service, held in the Sanctuary, is of a more formal and liturgical nature.  The atmosphere is worshipful and reverent, with traditional hymns making up the majority of the music. The order of worship includes a responsive reading, the Apostle’s Creed, Gloria Patri, the Lord’s Prayer, and a doxology.  Music is provided by piano, organ, a chancel choir, and occasionally handbell choirs or other special instrumentation.  Acolytes, altar flower, and candles help to further enhance the traditional worship experience of participants.
